The Charlotte Tilbury foundations: Which one should I choose for my skin?

Today I would like to share with you my thoughts on the magic foundation and the light wonder foundation. I have had the light wonder foundation for a long time now and I was desperate to try the magic foundation to see if I
a) liked it b) preferred it c) didn't like it at all.

Which one should you choose for your skin?

Firstly I would like to tell you that my skin is quite dry and dehydrated on the cheek area with some redness. I don't suffer from acne/spots as such but I do find that foundations stick to dryer patches on my cheeks.
This is why I really liked the wonder glow foundation. I think it is similar to the burberry fresh glow/nars sheer glow. It is a light-medium coverage that remains dewy on the skin (even when I am having a dry skin day). It never stick to dry areas and is the perfect every day foundation. If I want to build up the glow, I will wear the wonder glow beauty flash primer underneath.

In this photo below I am ONLY wearing the foundation (i.e. no concealer, powder etc)

As you can see, the magic foundation does give a much fuller coverage. These are both in the shade 3 which is for fair to light skin with cool undertones (to counter act the redness).

I do like to wear a fuller coverage foundation for special occasions/ nights out or when I need it to last a long time. The magic foundation was a lot matter than I was expecting. Charlotte tilbury says this is a semi-matte foundation but on my dry skin I would say this is matte. I like the coverage and the feel to this foundation. It smells like vanilla yoghurt and feels light on the skin which is quite surprising given its fuller coverage. I would say this is most similar to the Estee Lauder double wear but not as heavy on the skin. I did have some sticking to the dryer areas (you may be able to make this out on the photo) and for my personal taste it was a little too matte. I added some of the hourglass   incandescent light powder over the top to give me more of a glow. I love that you can find your foundation type and shade on the website and helps you to choose the right foundation suited to your imperfections e.g. acne/redness/large pores etc.

In my opinion I would choose:

Light wonder foundation if you:
want a light- medium coverage
glowy skin
If your skin is dry/normal
If your skin isn't too troublesome
If you like Nars sheer glow/ Chanel vita-lumiere aqua/ burberry fresh glow

Magic foundation if you:
Don't have very dry skin
Have problem skin e.g. acne/scarring/redness
normal-oily skin
Like a matte finish
want your foundation to last all day
If you like Estee lauder double wear and want something a little less cakey

I hope you foundation this helpful

Current favourites

I am a little bit late this month to do a July favourites- I don't know where the time has gone! So here are my current favourites. I've just got back from a lovely two weeks away and these are the products that I have been using the whole time I've been away and have to say I love!

1. The body shop Mojito body butter.
As you may have seen from a previous post here, I absolutely adore this scent. It was perfect whilst I was away on holiday for moisturising, preserving my tan  and it's fresh, zesty scent was perfect for the hot summer days.
2. Mac Lipstick in Mehr
This was a Lily Pebbles recommendation and I have to say I love it- see below for a swatch. It is the perfect pinky nude which is great everyday but can also double up for night time when you are travelling light.
3. Charlotte Tilbury- Norman Parkinson collaboration Dreamy glow highlighter
Again, I go on and on about how much I love Charlotte Tilbury but this has been on my cheeks constantly since I bought it. It adds the perfect glow for summer without being too shimmery. I have a full review of it here.
4. The new Chanel chance fragrance in Eau Vive
I have been a trusty Chanel eau Tendre fan for a long time now but when this was released I had to go and have a sniff! I think I actually prefer this one. It has a slightly more fruity, summer scent, maybe a little younger than the Eau Tendre and I really like it. Definitely one to try out if you are a Chanel Chance kinda girl.
5. Charlotte tilbury Goddess skin clay mask
Mac Mehr lipstick, Eyeshadow in Chopper,
Charlotte tilbury highlighter
Again, I have raved about this in a review here. This is one of the best masks I have ever used. I suffer with dry skin and it gives me an instant hydration boost and leaves my skin feeling so soft without drying it out at all.
6. Urban decay eyeshadow in Chopper
As you can see from the swatch, it is so glittery and pretty! It lasts all day with the Nars eyeshadow primer and looks great on it's own or with other shadows. It was a great choice for holiday wear as I could pack light and knew it would still be there at the end of the night.

What are your current favourites?

Charlotte Tilbury Haul and swatches

Last weekend I went to Selfridges and accidentally ended up buying a lot of Charlotte Tilbury products!
I bought:

When I arrived at the counter I was lucky enough to get my makeup done for me by a lovely lady which made me want everything I tried! Here is a photo where I am wearing the foundation, eyebrow product and the bronzed garnet eye shadow pencil. On first impression I love everything but I will do a more in-depth review of these products once I have given them a good try.

My favourite Charlotte Tilbury products

Today I would like to share with you my favourite picks from the Charlotte Tilbury makeup collection. I have had these products for several months now and can honestly say that these 4 items are my favourite.

The Vintage Vamp Luxury eye shadow palette £38

This is a beautiful eyeshadow quad with a great inner corner highlight, glitter and 2 plum eyeshadow shades. I absolutely love the packaging of this. This palette looks great as an everyday look or with added glitter it can take you into the night. There are nine different palettes to choose from and each one has a video tutorial, swatches and ideas on the website. A great idea when you are looking to buy to products. You can watch the Charlotte tilbury video and buy this product here

Colour Chameleon in Amber Haze £19

This is one of my favourite eye shadow pencils. Charlotte has recommended this colour for brown eyes but I think this looks great on all eye colour types. Again there are 8 colours to choose from with beautiful photos and swatches on the website. This pencil lasts all day and can be smudged out to create a smokey look or used as an eyeliner. The only thing with this is I wish it would come in a twist up form as sharpening pencils can be a bit of a pain. Despite this I LOVE it! You can but it here for £19.

Full fat lashes glossy black Mascara £22

This is a lovely mascara. I recently did a review of the Benefit Roller lash Mascara here. However I do prefer this for a more everyday eyelash look. It elongates my lashes without looking clumpy or fake. The brush isn't plastic like the benefit one which I prefer. It is also a lot easier to get off. As you can see from the photo, it really opens up the eye and makes my lashes look so much longer. You can purchase it here for £22

Airbrush flawless finish powder £33

Last but by no means least, it is the airbrush flawless finish powder. I have talked about this in my current beauty favourites post. It is a lovely lightweight powder that sets my makeup without looking powdery. I have quite dry skin but often have an oily t zone/ chin so this works perfectly at matifying those areas . Again the packaging is beautiful in a rose gold colour. You can purchase it here for £33

I am really looking forward to the new colab collection with Norman Parkinson coming out in July. From seeing the sneak peaks on various blogs- I cannot wait!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post

thanks

My current beauty favourites

Today I thought I would share my current beauty favourites with you. I feel like I am settled with the products I am using on a daily basis.

Products mentioned:

Benefit roller lash mascara

I feel really happy with my daily makeup routine at the moment. I know I can put this makeup on and it lasts all day without me having to reapply or worry about it when I am at work. There have been quite a few new additions with recent releases and I have to say I love them- especially the roller lash mascara and the Clarins concealer.

All of the products are available from Boots with the exception of the Charlotte tilbury powder which is available from her website or Selfridges.

Click on the links above to take you straight to the products

Enjoy!
