My top 5 perfumes

Today I would like to share my top five favourite perfumes. I have around 10 different perfumes but these are my most worn.

This is the most recent addition to my perfume collection. I used to wear Chanel eau chance (I still really like it) but I think this one has surpassed it. It is slightly sweeter than the eau chance and lasts really well. I love the bottle, it fits perfectly in my perfume storage rack (It's actually a spice rack on the side of my wardrobe!)

I have a mini travel size of this perfume which I tend to keep in my handbag for spritzing on the go. It doesn't last as well at the Chanel but it is a really pretty fragrance. It has a fruity floral scent with agathosma, grapefruit flower and lime accord. I also like the Boss Nuit (black bottle) and the Ma vie scent too (pink bottle)

This is a lovely perfume, the bottle is really beautiful and it is not too expensive as far as perfumes go. This has a mandarin, peach blossom and iced raspberry scent which is sweet but not too sickly. I love this for every day and it lasts well. I also really like the Euphoria scent which is slightly less sweet.

This is a lovely perfume, as are most Jo Mallone fragrances. They make the perfect give and if you can't decide on one, you can buy them in miniature too! This is the perfect autumn scent with pear, white freesias, amber, patchouli and woods. It is quite subtle and is different to what I would normally go for. I have my eyes (and nose) on the wood sage and sea salt scent which I have to spray every time I go near a Jo Mallone counter. These are quite pricey at £85! You can also buy room diffusers, sprays and candles in the same scents. The candles are £42 and are available here.

Now I have to admit, I did pick this up to start with because of the beautiful, sparkly packaging. This would look good on any vanity unit! It also smells amazing too. This perfume has a musky scent with vanilla, white lily, amber but also has a fruity note with guava, mandarin, pomegranate and freesia.

As you can see from these descriptions, I seem to gravitate towards fruity floral scents with mandarin, amber and freesia!

What is your favourite perfume?

Weekend wind up: Wish lists, birthday celebrations, beetroot cake and a few new purchases!

This week has been a really fun one. I went shopping, ate beetroot cake for the first time and went to my friends 29th birthday party.

A few new purchases
I went to Westfield on friday and picked up a few new bits. I bought two pairs of earrings from Orelia in topshop. I got these beautiful marble effect squares with a rose gold edging and these silver bar studs. There doesn't seem to be as many Orelia products on the topshop website as there are in store so I definitely recommend checking out the Orelia website here.

I also bought some more hair grips from H&M as I have been wearing my hair half up, half down a lot more recently and these clips are great for that.
From H&M I bought this little 'have a nice day' mat which I thought would be great for instagram photos and using in backgrounds (can't find online but they are near the tills in the homeware section).
Next, I went to boots and picked up this sensational gel polish to try in 'taupe tulips'. I have been using the CND shellac colours and thought I would give this a try. Watch this space for my thoughts...

And finally I picked up another Rimmel stay matte powder in transparent. This is so cheap and does exactly what it says on the tin. I've got through a couple of these now and really love it.

Wishlists
I also wrote a blog post all about what I have on my wishlist for my birthday! There will be another wishlist post coming your way soon, but if you missed it you can click here to see everything that I'm in love with.

Birthday celebrations
And finally I ended the week with a birthday party for one of my close friends. We all went round for drinks, nibble and of course.... birthday cake! This was a cake with a difference- it had beetroot in it! Now I'm all for vegetables in cake, carrot cake is my absolute favourite. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It was really tasty and you couldn't really tell that it was made from vegetables. Healthy(ish) and tasty- bonus!

I hope that you had a good weekend

My favourite foundations of all time

Today I am going to share my favourite foundations of all time. All of these come with the highest recommendation from me. I have dry dehydrated skin and these are all perfect for me, they do not stick to dry patches. I think they would all work with a variety of skin types, so here are my favourites...

Bobbi brown intensive skin serum foundation
This is a liquid foundation, which comes with a pipet applicator.  It is Formulated with Lychee, Bamboo Grass and Cordyceps Mushroom extracts. Now I am not a dermatologist but these ingredients work! My skin feels lovely! I have dry dehydrated skin and since using this foundation my skin looks dewy, radiant and I haven't had any breakouts. The foundation claims to have a powerful combination of serum ingredients which help to support the skin’s cellular energy and also offers key anti-aging benefits for a smoother, firmer, more lifted look. I wear the colour sand. You can see my full review here.

Too faced born this way foundation
This has to be one of my new favourite foundations. It leaves my skin looking flawless. It is slightly more coverage than I have been wearing over the last few months but it doesn't feel cakey or heavy on the skin. I bought the colour porcelain which is similar to Rimmel wake me up Ivory/Mac NW20/Nars Sante Fe in colour.

Chanel vitalumiere Aqua
(Worn in the shade 20 beige)
This has to be one of the most popular foundations in the blogging world, but for good reason! This is one of my favourite foundations of all time. When worn if feels so light and velvety. It makes me feel like I'm hardly wearing anything on my skin. A 'your skin but better' feel. It lasts well and when I remove my makeup after a long day it is clearly visible on my makeup remover pad. Definitely worth a try if you like a light but buildable foundation with a dewy finish.

Estée lauder Enlighten Even Effect Skintone Corrector SPF 30
I am cheating slightly here as this isn't technically a foundation but a skin corrector. However, when I wear this I never need to apply foundation as well. This has a lovely dewy finish and does what the title suggests. It evens out your skin tone and covers uneven colouring (in my case red patches) well. I choose this when my skin is having a good day, it has a very light coverage and looks as if you

Charlotte Tilbury wonder glow foundation
I recently purchased the light wonder foundation from Selfridges after seeing it appear on many blogs. I think foundation has to be my favourite beauty product that I always like to try. Having dry skin makes it tricky sometimes to find a foundation that does not stick to dry patches or look cakey on the skin. I have had the Wonderglow primer and the airbrush flawless finish powder since Christmas so I thought it was about time to complete the trio. I have to say that I am impressed! The foundation has SPF 15 and is a light foundation that hydrates the skin without looking too thick. I really like this with the wonder glow primer underneath as it adds a lovely dewy finish that lasts really well. I use the powder just on my T zone to stop any shine.

Nars sheer glow foundation
This is a very good, medium coverage foundation, which lasts well throughout the day. I bought a pump to go with this foundation as well as it is hard to dispense when just tipping out of the bottle (you end up wasting a lot too!) This is in between the Chanel vitalumiere and the double wear and has a similar finish to the Rimmel lasting finish foundation. Personally since having the Rimmel one, I have been reaching for that more during the winter as it lasts better and never clings to any dry patches. If you do not have very dry skin I think this would be a great one for you!

Burberry fresh glow foundation

Today I am going to be sharing my thoughts on the relatively new Burberry fresh glow foundation SPF 15. After watching Lily Pebbles recently I had to look what foundation she was wearing in the Youtube description box and discovered that this was it. I have recently fallen for the new Bobbi Brown intensive skin serum foundation SPF 40 (what a mouthful!) so I had to be impressed even more that usual. You can see a full review here.

What is your favourite foundation? Next on my list to try is the Charlotte Tilbury magic foundation.

Birthday wishlist

Next month it is my birthday so I decided to create a wishlist. My family are always asking me what I would like so this is partly for me (it's so much fun to browse online!) and to give my family a sneaky peek at what I have been looking at!

ASOS oversized scarf £14 (white and grey)
Pepe jeans scarf £12 (blue spot)

Let's face it, anything cushion/bedding related or new in makeup will make it onto this list. I could keep adding and adding to this list!

Have you seen anything that you are dying to have recently?

My top 10 lip products

So here it is, my top 10 favourites. This was a tricky decision to make but I've managed to narrow it down. There are 2 lip liners, 2 lip pencils, a lip stain, a lip balm/shine and 4 lipsticks.
So here we go......

Listed here from left to right:

I think there is a good mixture here from your everyday lip balm tint to a full on red lip. I wear all of these on a regular basis. At the moment I think the Burberry kisses lipstick in blush is my favourite.
Let's see if this changes over the autumn- maybe a few berry shades will make it into my favourites!

Could you name your top 10? I would love to know

Weekend wind- up: New in from Charlotte Tilbury, cycling to work, bath bombs, coat swooning and pizza!

It's that time of the week again where I gather together all of the things I've been up to, swooning over and let you know my thoughts.

First up is this coat from topshop. I haven't got a grey coat and I have been searching for a new winter coat for a while now. This is the slouchy boucle wool blend coat £85. I definitely want to go and try this on in store next time I go shopping!

I've also been finding myself taking more baths now the weather is getting colder. I lovely having a warm bath and then snuggling up on the sofa watching a film. This is my current favourite from Lush. It is the intergalactic bath bomb with peppermint, grapefruit, vetiver and cedar wood oil. When you put it in the bath it goes blue, yellow, pink and glittery- what more could you want?!?

I've also been eyeing up the Charlotte Tilbury miracle eye wand that is due to come out tomorrow (Monday 21st September). I'm excited to try this. Apparently it took 5 years in the making and creates the appearance of 8 hours sleep! It comes in 5 shades and has two ends.
1) A hydrating eye cream
2) Light reflector to banish those dark circles
Have any of you been able to have a sneaky peek? What do you think?

I have also been cycling to work. At my last job it was only 1.3miles away so cycling was a doddle. My new job is 9.1 miles. I hate relying and travelling on public transport in London because if there are any delays, I'm late. On the bus, 2 trains and walk route (Yes that's right!) it takes 1hour 15minutes with no delays. The cycling route takes 1hour 5minutes so I am already getting there faster. I hope to cut this down a bit as I get used to the longer commute but I am really proud that I am doing this. Hopefully it will be good for my waistline too!

Lastly, I met up with a few old work colleagues at Pizza express. I had the Padana pizza which was delicious and possibly the best cheesecake I've ever had. The honeycomb cream slice. I seriously recommend trying this next time you go to Pizza express- it was to die for!

I hope you have had a good weekend

A Review: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

I recently purchased this palette in a haul from Sephora- you can see my blog post haul and swatch here. I've been using this for a few weeks now and I have to say I really like it. Don't get me wrong, I don't got overboard with the Kim K contour but I do like definition for my cheek bones (or lack of!) and to highlight. I really like the highlight shade (top right) and the first two bronzer shades. I use the first one as an overall bronzer and the middle one to contour my cheek bones. I haven't used the lighter shades as much but they do look lovely has a brow highlight and a base for eye shadow. You could also use the shade banana (top middle) as an under eye concealer as it would offset any redness/ purple under the eyes.

L-R Vanilla, Banana sand, Java, Fawn, Havana
The colour pay off it good without too much fall out. The packaging is good too as it is slim and fits into my muji travel make up bag. It is made from a study cardboard with a magnetic closure. The individual shades could also be decanted as they have magnetic bottoms.
I'm sure I didn't really need any more contour/ bronzers but it is a welcome addition to my collection.

Have you tried this palette? What do you think?

CIATÉ LONDON X OLIVIA PALERMO FALL COLLECTION

So here it is..... the Ciate x Olivia Palermo fall collection which includes:

There are four shades in this collection: (LR) a pretty pink 'Truffle', 'Praline', a nude 'Cashmere' and the classic red shade 'Velveteen'. These are highly pigmented with a semi-matte finish.

Also in the collection is the blusher bronzer duo. There are two shades 'bluff point' has a deep pinky tone which is the fairer of the two compacts. The second is 'Seaside park' which is more of a peachy tone which is best suited for olive/ darker skin. These contain bamboo extract which is supposed to help absorb excess oils and keep shine at bay.

Next up are two kohl eye liners in 'Black' and 'Fig'. These are in pencil form which you can build up and blend to create a smoky look. Each pencil comes with a small brush on the end to help line the lash line.

There is also an eyeshadow palette in this collection which looks very pretty indeed. The palette comprises of:
4 smoky matte shades
5 shimmer shades
This palette looks perfect for creating a smoky eye with the rick aubergine, deep brown shades. The ivory shimmer makes the perfect highlighter for the inner corner and under the brow bone. These shadows have a suede texture to them with a RRP of £35

Lastly is the release of two new nail polishes. These are perfect for Autumn/ fall. They are a tad pricey at £19 each but if you want to splash out, these are two beautiful shades.

Weekend wind-up: new rug, candles lit, autumn fashion and baking!

Happy Sunday everyone! This week I have been chilling out at home more in the evenings as the weather has been getting colder. I have been snuggling up more on my sofa with candles lit. This Mandarin cranberry Yankee candle is my absolute favourite. It smells fruity with a hint of spice to it- perfect for autumn winter. I love this time of year, hearty pies/ soups, coats, scarves and lot's of spice in your coffee!

I also finally chose which rug to buy for my new kitchen/ living room. I choose this pastel geomet multicolour rug from benuta.co.uk for only £29.95- bargain! Compared to the £300 ones on the John Lewis/ habitat websites I am really pleased with this one, it is the perfect size to fit in the L Shape gap by my sofa. I will take some photos when it arrives.

I have also been perusing various clothing websites at new coats, scarves, knitwear- anything autumn related! If you missed it, you can see my edit with all links here.

Finally, on Saturday I did some baking. I've been watching the Great British bake off and it inspired me to get baking again. I have make this Marry Berry carrot cake before and it is a winner every time. It is so easy because you can just throw all the ingredients in one bowl and boom- it's delicious. You can find the recipe here. After all it's healthy because it's got carrot it- right?!?

Thanks for reading. I hope you are having a lovely weekend

A Review: The Becca Shimmering skin perfectors

Champagne pop

I recently purchased these Becca shimmering skin perfectors from Sephora online. You can get Becca products from Space NK here in the UK but I really wanted the Jaclyn Hill collaboration highlighter in Champagne pop. As you may have seen from my Sephora Haul post here, it arrived broken! (Cries)
Sephora did give me a refund however I had to place my order again as they do not sent replacements. I thought it was a shame to only order one thing as I was paying customs so this led me to make my second Sephora haul here- oops! I finally got the Champagne pop and I also purchased the shimmering skin perfector in Opal.

I LOVE these highlighters. They are not the most subtle highlighters I have used but they look beautiful on the skin. The Champagne pop comes out a lovely white gold colour without looking glittery and the Opal is slightly warmer with a hint of rose gold. (See swatches below)

Left to right: Champage pop blended, Opal blended, Champagne pop, Opal
I think these highlighters will last forever as you get some much product and you hardly need any on your brush to give you that glowy look. I use a Laura mercier fan brush to apply this in a C shape around my temple and round onto the tops of my cheek bones. I thoroughly recommend trying these out!

A Review: The Too faced hangover replenishing face primer

I have been trying out the Too faced hangover primer for a couple of weeks now so here are my thoughts.....

I really like the packaging of this. There is a pump on the end which makes it so much easier to apply. I use one pump on the areas of my face which lose the make up first (T zone/chin). I like the scent of this, it smells of coconut and is quite watery in consistency. This is quite different to a lot of other primers I have tried because it is so thin and does not have a silicone texture to it.
I think it adds a good 2nd moisturising layer to your skin which is good if you have dry/ dehydrated skin. I always find that I could do with more moisture in my skin. I can't say that it is my favourite primer as I don't feel it does very much for my makeup staying power. Because my skin is dry, I don't find that my makeup wears off very easily, this primer may be better for oily skin. It is a nice product but I don't think I would repurchase it. I prefer the Benefit porefessional primer if I was to wear one.

Have you tried this primer?
What do you think?

Weekend wind-up: New job, shopping for a rug, magic foundation and nail stamping!

It's been a busy week here. On Tuesday I started my new job part-time three days a week. It's been exciting but also stressful as there has been a lot of building work done and it isn't quite finished! I'm going to be teaching three days and juggling everything else on the remaining days of the week. I'm sure it will be great fun when I'm settled in and everything is finished!

As you may have seen, I recently got a new kitchen and some easy geometric prints to go on the wall. Next on my shopping list is a new rug for the living space. I have found quite a few I like on the John Lewis, habitat, carpet right websites so watch this space. I think I've narrowed it done to these four but they may be a bit big. Which one is your favourite?

I also bought a new throw from habitat to go on the end of my bed. It was half price and looks lovely on my white bedsheets with some cushions. You can find it here for £17- bargain. It is also reversible with a slightly different pattern so you are getting 2 for the price of 1!.

I also bought some nail art stamps. I do my own DIY shellac nails at home but I recently used ordinary nail polish glitter underneath a shellac top coat and it stay on for ages. Stay tuned for a review and photos coming soon.

What have you been up to recently? Seen any nice home things that I should check out?

My current non- beauty favourites

Today I would like to share with you my current non-beauty favourites.
I recently picked up the ASOS run away leather mix pointed Chelsea ankle boots after seeing ghostparties instagram photo. Her instagram is beautiful. These boots are leather with a furry/hairy front to them- very hard to describe! They have a small heel and are so comfortable. These will definitely be my Autumn staple boots.
I also picked up this ASOS 70s clean enamel rectangle necklace. It is perfect to wear with any outfit to give it a finishing touch. I have been wearing this with a plain cream jumper and black jeans with my new boots.
I got this Zara floral patchwork scarf about a month ago and I can't stop wearing it. There are so many colours in this scarf that look beautiful with a plain tee or jumper.
You may have seen from my recent post that I have been reading the life changing magic of tidying by Marie Kondo. I have written a post here with my favourite tips from the book.
I have also been wearing my M&S butterfly enable oversize sunglasses to death over the summer. I got the brown colour but in real life they are a more browny- grey. They are perfect and are not too big because I only have a small head and find that a lot of sunglasses make me look like a bug!
Last but not least is my Kate Spade 2 piece iPhone case. I have had a lot of compliments on this case when using my phone. I really like this because it is in two parts which means it overlaps the front edges, giving more protection than the standard 1 piece cases. I bought this in the apple shop a couple of months ago and can't find an online link but I would check out the store to see if you can find it. All the cases on the Kate Spade website are only 1 piece and offer less protection.

What are your current favourites

The Life Changing magic of tidying: Review, useful tips and the changes I have made after reading this book

Now there has been a lot of hype over this book and I have seen it crop up on quite a few blogs and youtube videos. At first I was quite sceptical. How can a book change your tidying habits? Will it actually be practical?

I did really enjoy reading this book and I have been meaning to have a bit clear out so this definitely prompted one.

These are are my favourite bits of the book that I have found really useful for tidying:
1) Tidy in categories not rooms.
Items are often scattered all over your house and if you tidy up room by room you do not see the full extent of what you have. Rather than tidy your bedroom, tidy clothes or shoes etc.
2) Have a home for everything
Make sure everything has a place. Where do you put your handbag when you get in from work/school? Is it the same place? Things like this can soon build up and clutter up your house. Give everything a home and empty your handbag regularly!
3) Store items in drawers on their ends
It is so easy for you to keep piling your clothes on top of each other and before you know it, you never wear what is at the bottom of the pile. Fold your clothes to fit the drawer and stand them on end so you can see everything in your draws.
4) When you tidy/sort your clothes get them out of your wardrobe
When sorting/ clearing out your wardrobe, pull everything out. It allows you to see the quantity you have and then you have to touch everything and really look at what you have got. I threw so much more out this way rather than looking in your wardrobe and pulling a few things out.

I hope this gives you an insight into what this book is all about. Definitely worth a read if you need to sort out all of your belongings.

Thanks for reading

My August beauty favourites

It's come to the end of the month again and here are the beauty bits I have been loving this month. There are quite a few new products this month as I have had a cheeky Sephora order and had a bit more time to try new things out.

1.Burberry Kisses lipstick in No. 77 Blush
I love this lipstick and it is the perfect colour to take me into Autumn. It has started to get a little cooler here in the UK and this is a lovely pink berry colour. The packaging is beautiful with a magnetic close. The only problem is it is slightly larger than normal lipsticks and it won't fit into my lipstick holder container!

2. Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering skin perfector in Champagne pop.
I finally have it! I ordered it again after receiving a refund from Sephora. I was gutted when it arrived smashed. This highlighter does not disappoint. I also purchased the Becca Shimmering skin perfector in Opal which is more subtle with less of a white gold finish. I really love this one too!

3. Charlotte Tilbury Goddess skin clay mask
Now I have raved about this on my blog before here. I absolutely LOVE this mask. I use it once a week when I am having a pamper night. It leaves my skin feeling soft, hydrated and helps to keep my skin clear. I thoroughly recommend it.

4. Sephora triple action cleansing water
I have just picked up another bottle of this when I visited Sephora. I think I prefer it to Bioderma. I love the pump on the top and it removes all my waterproof mascara too. If you are looking to try a new cleansing water, why not give this one a go.

5.  CND Shellac nail polish in Field fox
I have written a post about DIY shellac nails here. It is so much cheaper to do them yourself. It can cost anywhere between £20-40 in London. I love using this as my nail polish lasts 2 weeks on my fingernails and up to 4 weeks on my toes! I recently purchased the colour Field fox here and it is beautiful! All of the products I use are in the post above. It's the perfect tool for a girls night in!

6. Too faced born this way foundation
This has to be my new favourite foundation.

7. Charlotte Tilbury Vintage Vamp Palette
I have been having a bit of a clear out and when I was tidying up my makeup drawers I rediscovered this palette. It is a beautiful palette that can be used everyday (top two shades) or for a full smokey eye. You can watch tutorials and get some inspiration here for different eye looks with the palette.

8. Clarins Aquatic treasures bronzer
There is a full review of my thoughts and swatches here. Needless to say- I love it!

9. Chanel Chance Eau Vive
I have been a lover of the Chanel Chance eau tendre for a few years now and when this one came out I new I had to try it. I think I actually prefer it. It is slightly sweeter and a younger fragrance. A new favourite, if you have chance to have a sniff I would recommend it.

10. Laura Mercier Fan Brush
I was missing a fan brush from my brush collection so I picked this one up when I got a Space NK promotion code. I use this to apply highlighter on the tops of my cheeks. It is great because you can achieve a light dusting or really build it up if you want to glow!

11. Sephora colour shadow and liner in taupe
I love eye shadow crayons because they are perfect when you are in a rush in the morning. A sweep all over the lid and blended gives you a put together look without the effort. I really like these colour shadows. They have a waterproof formula and last longer than the ByTerry Ombre Blackstars without any creasing. At only $7 they are a bargain!

What are your favourites this month?
